Recently, R.I.C.E., has changed to:

R - Rest the injured part
I - Apply Ice pack or a cold pad
C - Provide Comfortable support
E - Elevate the injured part

The need to "compress" a sprain or strain has changed to a need to comfortably support the injury e.g. using a bandage or soft padding
