How do I recycle my mobile phone?
First off, login to our recycling website. If you haven't recycled for us before, you'll need to register first.
Simply request a Freepost recycling envelope using our recycling scheme, and use it to send us your old handset.
Collection boxes are also available if you will be collecting 50 items or more (this includes both mobile phones and inkjet cartridges). Just order a collection box and when it is full, arrange a free collection through our website or by calling us on 0844 412 2811. This is ideal for an office, university or school collection.
You can recycle mobile phones of any brand and contract, including Nokia, T-Mobile, Virgin, Orange and Samsung.
We also accept damaged and broken phones. Every phone can make a difference.
How much does the Red Cross receive?
For each mobile phone recycled, we will receive up to £30. This is up to 50 per cent of its market value. This money will go towards projects run in the UK – such as giving people vital first aid training – as well as international projects, like improving water and sanitation facilities in Asia.
Why should I recycle mobile phones?
There are an estimated 60-90 million mobile phones languishing in drawers around the UK. If these phones end up in landfill sites, their toxic components become a threat to human health and the environment. If the phones are recycled, they eliminate this threat to the environment and also decrease the strain on our planet’s resources.
