Humanitarian action

In 2006, 49,330 children benefited from our humanitarian education programme in schools. We reached a further 8,300 young people outside school with our humanitarian messages, as well as 20,930 adults.

More than 1,700 teachers and youth workers are now using our education website to help promote humanitarian and citizenship issues to a young audience.

Our Life. Live it. campaign, aimed at inspiring more young people to learn lifesaving skills, has so far reached 42,630 people across the UK.

“I volunteer because I love it. It’s very satisfying and really great fun. I’d definitely recommend it to others – and it’s a way of saying look, we do give something back to the community”

Emma Padfield, Red Cross volunteer
