Working better together

Last year, we reviewed our partnerships with the Department of International Development (DfID), the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The successful conclusion of the former will lead to a DfID grant of £80m over the four years up to April 2010.

We are also increasingly contributing to the effective positioning of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement within the European Union.

With our people
We revamped our induction programme for staff and volunteers, with a new one day workshop and a two-part online module. Through these new resources, our people will receive better training and support.

Following our recent brand review, we are involving our staff and volunteers in a review of the values that should inform everything we do. This will be concluded in 2007.

A modern, efficient Red Cross
We want to reach the broadest possible audience while making the most efficient use of our resources. That’s why we continued our drive to move paper-based systems online. Internal and external customers can now order cards, gifts, publications, first aid kits and hundreds of other items through our online shop.

The relaunch of our intranet, and a new knowledge management strategy, are also helping promote information-sharing.
