The British Red Cross is supporting people impacted following a collision between two passenger trains in the Bedford area
23 June 2026
The charity is offering assistance through a telephone support line, coordinated by East Midlands Railway, helping people cope with the immediate emotional impact of the incident.
Anyone who has been affected by the Bedford train crash can get in contact with the support line, which is available across the UK, for assistance. Specially trained volunteer operators will help callers with emotional and practical support. This includes helping people to find the most relevant services depending on their situation.
Laura Scott, Head of Crisis Response at the British Red Cross said:
“Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the tragic incident in Bedford. We know emergencies like this affect people in different ways, and we are working closely with East Midlands Railway to provide ongoing practical and emotional support.
“Our telephone support line is open for anyone who needs help and our trained volunteers can provide a listening ear and practical guidance. People can connect with the British Red Cross via East Midlands Railway, by calling 0333 212 59 34.”
- We also provide online wellbeing support.
- Use the C.A.L.M.E.R. approach to deal with stress and anxiety in or after an emergency.
