Government's Immigration and Asylum Bill will create uncertainty, says British Red Cross Director of Policy, Research and Advocacy

Responding to the government’s Immigration and Asylum Bill, British Red Cross Director of Policy, Research and Advocacy, Mubeen Bhutta, said:

“We want to see an asylum system that is fair and compassionate, but it’s unclear how this bill will improve things.   

“Many of the reforms in this bill will make it harder for refugee families to be together and create more uncertainty for people who have already faced unimaginable trauma.  

“We know from our experience, that communities thrive when people are treated with compassion and given the right support. The government should focus on enabling refugees and people seeking asylum to integrate into communities and rebuild their lives.”
