Choosing compassion in a divided world

Explore our growing toolkit of podcast episodes, expert-recommended actions and impartial information designed to help us all bridge the divides in everyday life.

Bridge-building toolkit

We’re worried about the impact of the growing sense of division on communities across the country. Through conversations with thousands of people, we've learnt that it can be hard to know where to start when trying to bridge divides in our day-to-day lives.

We decided to do something about it. This toolkit is full of tips and strategies to help you feel more equipped to connect across divides – whether this is with your friends, family, colleagues or in your communities

Listen to series one of the Bridging Divides podcast

Together with the Bridging Divides community, we've produced a podcast to help understand why we are feeling so divided, and what we can do about it. Our host, Sonali Shah, and expert guests answer the most pressing questions about division in the UK, what can help bring communities together, and how our own beliefs are formed.

The role of the British Red Cross in Bridging Divides

Our new polling shows three quarters of UK adults (75%) believe the UK is divided as a country and almost as many (72%) feel the country has become more divided in the past five years. We’re concerned about the impact of this growing sense of division on communities across the country.

At the British Red Cross we want to do something about it, by opening the conversation and sharing the tools and knowledge to choose compassion in divided times.
