The evening will bring to life the growing impact of climate-related emergencies, and how the British Red Cross helps communities  prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters in an increasingly uncertain world.

A sneak peek at what you can expect

This year, guests will be invited into a unique experience that explores the human stories behind climate-related emergencies.

Through sight and sound, you'll learn how floods, droughts and extreme weather events are impacting people’s lives, both in the UK and across the globe.

With stories from volunteers and people affected by crisis, we’ll explore how the British Red Cross works with our wider Movement and local communities. And we’ll look at how, together, we help people prepare for and recover from emergencies – while building their resilience.

This experience is not simply about the challenges people face. It's about hope. It’s about the power of humanity. And it’s about the extraordinary ways communities come together before, during and after disaster.

An evening of inspiration

The evening will feature special guest speakers, sharing stories of courage, compassion and the strength of communities in times of crisis.

David Craigie, emergency response volunteer

We’re delighted to welcome British Red Cross volunteer, David Craigie.

Since joining in 2022, David has supported people in a wide range of areas. This includes volunteering with his local emergency response team, contributing to the national emergency response team, representing volunteers at local and national level, fundraising and delivering educational courses. Through his many roles, he has witnessed first-hand how volunteers bring stability, dignity and life-changing help to people.

Drawing on his personal experiences, David will share what it means to be a humanitarian in today's world. We’ll hear how he stands alongside people in their worst moments, helps them find hope in times of uncertainty, and works with communities to make them stronger, safer and better equipped to face future disasters.

Further speakers will be announced closer to the event date.
