This garden has an interesting design of small gardens within a garden. Diverse planting managed in a natural and artistic way creates a place of peace and beauty, and a wildlife haven.
The garden is on a south facing slope with underlying limestone and clay, which was originally thin top soil. Over 40 years, the owners have entirely transformed the garden.
They also manage the 4.5-acre meadow located behind one garden with guidance from the wildlife trust. Part of this is cultivated but most is developing as a wildflower meadow and a source of local hay for nearby farmers.
