This free workshop helps adults build confidence, knowledge and skills to act before, during and after a flooding event.

What is the Flooding: aware, prepare, care workshop?
This 90-minute workshop aims to help adults build confidence, knowledge and skills to act before, during and after a flooding event by helping you identify risks, learn everyday preparedness skills, make safe decisions, and create a flood action plan.

- Face-to-face workshop for groups of between 5 and 20 adults
You must be a UK resident to take part in a workshop. The face-to-face workshop is available in certain locations. Click the link above to find availability in your area and how to book.
Who is the workshop designed for?
Flooding affects more than homes and infrastructure; it disrupts daily life, harms well-being and can have long-lasting physical, emotional, and social impacts on communities.
The workshop is:
- available to any UK community member or community group
- best suited to those living in areas that are at risk of, but have yet to experience, flooding
Those who have been directly impacted by flooding may find the workshop triggering and are advised to proceed with caution when booking the workshop.
What will I learn during this workshop?
Through interactive activities, real community stories, and scenario-based decision making, our free workshop will help you learn how to:
- Understand local flood risks.
- Recognise official flood alerts.
- Take the right actions at each stage.
- Create a simple flood action plan.
- Prepare your home and essential items.
How are workshops delivered?
Our workshops are delivered online or in-person depending on your location and personal circumstance.
Online workshops for individuals or groups:
- take place on Microsoft Teams
- require a microphone for interaction
- can be accessed using a smartphone, tablet or computer.
In person workshops:
- are only available to group (5 - 20 adult learners)
- are delivered by one of our educators at an agreed location
- require space for the group to work in a comfortable and safe manner
- not everyone is eligible for an in-person workshop. Find out about eligibility.

Will I get a qualification?
While there is no formal qualification for taking part, we can provide a certificate of attendance, which you can fill in yourself or on behalf of others. This workshop does not fulfil any workplace requirements.
Is this workshop suitable for young people?
This workshop has been designed for adults. You can head to climate change education resources to find free teaching resources for young people in the UK.
Educators of young people aged 11 - 18 should also register for our free Humankind CPD programme, which includes free courses such as Teaching Climate Preparedness and Teaching Resilience.
