How volunteering with birds helped save Daniel's life
Meet Daniel, a member of the Blyth Community Connector service.
About
Until 2019, the British Red Cross and the Co-op had a partnership which aimed to tackle loneliness and social isolation across the UK. Our organisation has seen the devastating impact of loneliness on individuals and communities – from a deterioration of people’s health and wellbeing, to extra pressure on public services. The extent to which this is affecting people from all walks of life across our communities is striking. Our research found that:
- Over nine million people in the UK say they’re often or always lonely
- Loneliness affects people of all ages
- Life changes, such as becoming a parent, retirement, health changes, loss of mobility, divorce or bereavement are key triggers for loneliness.
