Red Cross Week

What is it?

  • Red Cross Week is our annual fundraising event, which is held in May.
  • People across the UK join in. You can too by organising a “red” fundraising event to show your support for the Red Cross. Ideas might include a dress-in-red day where everyone pays £1 to join in, a red cake sale, red face painting or a red themed party.

What you’ll need

  • Somewhere to hold your event
  • Any materials or equipment you might need
  • Friends to help you organise the events
  • Permission from your youth leader or teacher
  • A money float so that you can give people change if you might need to
  • A way of making sure everybody knows about it. Think about the ways you can do this – maybe using posters, newsletters or announcements.
  • A safe, sealed or lockable place to keep the money you raise
  • Someone who can write a cheque for the amount you raise

Top tips

  • Start planning a few weeks ahead so you have plenty of time to tell everyone about it.
  • Tell people about the work the Red Cross does so they know why you think your fundraising is important.
