Inspired Action: helping organisations work with young volunteers

Would your organisation like to support young volunteers? Download our free guide to recruiting and supporting young volunteers.

Inspired Action is a youth engagement project. Aimed at young people who do not typically engage in volunteering, the project explores how to remove barriers so everyone can enjoy the benefits of being a volunteer.

Funded by Spirit of 2012, and in partnership with Whizz-Kidz, we have supported nearly 700 young people into volunteering opportunities. During the process we learnt a lot about being inclusive when it comes to disability.

We have created a free guide about how to recruit and support young volunteers, based on our experience of delivering Inspired Action across the UK. It contains top tips and resources that can be adapted to different settings.

We are assuming that organisations engaging with young people already have a volunteering policy and a safeguarding policy. We also assume they have considered any potential vulnerabilities associated with the inclusion of young disabled people.

In sharing these lessons, we hope that we can contribute to the removal of barriers to participation, so that everyone can join in and volunteer to make the world a better place.
