What is our Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Volunteering Programme?
Our programme is designed specifically for DofE participants and provides the opportunity to make a real impact with your time.
With nine activities focused on key areas - disasters and emergencies, health and care, and refugees and migration - you’ll gain skills and contribute to the British Red Cross’s life-saving work.
Some activities can be completed online, giving you the option to volunteer from home. Others will encourage you to get hands-on, learning first aid, volunteering in shops and connecting with your community.
What’s involved?
Choose from a range of activities to suit your interests and availability, including:
- Missing Maps: Help create open-access maps of vulnerable areas to support disaster relief.
- First Aid Awareness: Learn first aid skills and share them with your community.
- Fundraising: Promote British Red Cross campaigns or organise a fundraising event.
- Supporting Refugees: Help raise awareness about the challenges faced by refugees and the vital work the British Red Cross does to support them.
- Help in our shops: Collect items to be donated, promote volunteering in your community and offer your time to your local Red Cross shop.
These activities will allow you to complete your DofE requirements while gaining practical experience and knowledge of humanitarian work.
What do you need?
No previous experience is required. You just need an interest in helping others and we’ll provide the resources and guidance you need to get started.
As an online volunteer, you will:
- Develop an understanding of key global issues.
- Build valuable skills in communication, leadership, and teamwork.
- Be part of a community of people making a difference.
