What is World First Aid Day?

World First Aid Day is an annual global event that raises awareness about the importance of first aid.

Held on the second Saturday of September, this day highlights how first aid can save lives in everyday and crisis situations.

We believe everyone should have the basic first aid skills to confidently help others in times of need. World First Aid Day gives us the platform to share that message.

Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies around the world launched World First Aid Day in 2000. Since then, it has grown into a global event, where we celebrate and promote the humanitarian mission of teaching first aid so people can act in emergencies.

Since then, it has grown into a global event, celebrated by Red Cross and Red Crescent societies worldwide.

The day was created to promote the humanitarian mission of first aid and to equip as many people as possible with the knowledge and confidence to act in emergencies.
