The British Red Cross is one of the most recognised brands across the globe. Our mission is to help people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are.
Join our leading national charity for career development opportunities, training and the chance to help people across the world. We offer a wide range of UK staff benefits.
We operate a group personal pension plan. This gives you lots of flexibility in managing your pension fund and choosing the investment funds that are right for you. You can choose how much to contribute from your salary, starting at two per cent, and we will match your contributions up to six per cent.
Staff and volunteer support service
A free, confidential telephone helpline and information service for workplace and other personal issues. The helpline offers you and your immediate family confidential and impartial help from an independent external company and is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
As a permanent full-time member of staff, you are entitled to an enhanced number of days’ paid annual leave per year, plus public holidays. If you work part-time you’ll get a proportion of this holiday entitlement (pro rata) depending how many hours you work. We will confirm your exact annual entitlement once you begin working with us. We consider requests for sabbaticals, long service leave and unpaid leave at the discretion of your manager and area of business.
Depending on your area of business, manager’s agreement and line of work, we can arrange a flexible working option to suit your personal circumstances. Examples include home working, job share or part-time work.
Health cash plan
A voluntary Simply Health staff scheme can fund or part-fund dental treatment, glasses, physiotherapy and other health-related services.
Learning and development
We’re committed to developing your skills and expertise to further your career. Corporate and local inductions will help you get to know the British Red Cross. You can discuss and agree your development needs, book a range of internal courses and you may receive support and time off for external study and courses.
Maternity, paternity, parental and adoption leave
We offer an enhanced package for parents, including unpaid parental leave and adoption leave. You can learn the full details of entitlement when you join.
Our vouchers can bring significant tax and National Insurance savings to working parents. You can set up an online account with Edenred and each month your account will be credited with the vouchers you buy.
Season ticket loan
Once you have passed your probation, you can apply for an interest-free season ticket loan. Season tickets are cheaper and more convenient than standard tickets and are not normally affected by increases in fares during their validity.
As part of our commitment towards reducing carbon emissions and promoting a healthy workforce, we offer an interest-free loan of up to £1,000 towards the cost of a bicycle and related safety equipment.
