Work experience for young people

If you're aged 15 to 18, you can apply for a one-week work experience placement at the British Red Cross.

Coronavirus work experience update

We are not able to process and respond to applications right now. We’ll do our very best to provide some work experience opportunities this year but don't know yet if this will be possible. When we can, we will hold applications and consider them for next year.

What we offer

We offer one-week work experience placements in July and August. This work experience takes place at our head office in London and is only for people aged 15 to 18.

The placements offer you an opportunity to gain experience within different departments. You will also get an insight into the work of the British Red Cross.

How to apply for work experience

We will be accepting applications for work experience in summer 2020 between 1 April 2020 and 1 June 2020 (please note applications made outside of these dates will not be accepted).

Please e-mail to apply, ensuring you tell us the following:

When applying for work experience, make sure you tell us:

  • the week you would like to do work experience (in July or August)
  • your preferred area of interest. For example, you might want to focus on fundraising, international work, HR, finance, IT, facilities and maintenance, marketing or business development
  • why you would like to do work experience at the British Red Cross
  • a CV if you have one.

The work experience placements take place in our office at 44 Moorfields, London, EC2Y 9AL. The office is by Moorgate tube and train stations.
