Returning your British Red Cross wheelchair
It’s easy to return your wheelchair. Just follow the advice on this page to organise the return and pickup, and get your wheelchair ready to be returned.
How to return your wheelchair
When you’re ready to send your wheelchair back, email us
at wheelchaircollections@redcross.org.uk.
You’ll need to tell us your:
- booking reference
- the day you want it collected (Monday to Friday)
- address we should collect it from
Please make sure that you return everything originally sent to you including:
- the box and protective packaging
- cushions
- leg elevators and footplates
We may have to charge you for any missing parts or accessories.
Get ready for the wheelchair to be collected
Your wheelchair collection should be easy and hassle free. Before your collection, there are just a few steps to take:
- Take off the delivery label.
- Fold the wheelchair.
- Pack it in the box it came in.
- Add any other equipment (footplates, leg elevators, etc.) to the original box.
Collection day
On the day we are due to collect your wheelchair follow these easy steps:
- Look out for a text message on the morning of your collection day – it will tell you what time the courier will arrive.
- Be ready for pick up at the time given.
- No need to print anything out – the courier will have a return label ready
- Hand over the wheelchair to the courier when they get there.

You can extend your wheelchair hire for up to 20 weeks.
