Already got a place for the Hackney Half Marathon?
If you already have a place at the event, you can still be part of Team Red Cross. You’ll receive the same support as other team members but won’t have a fundraising target to reach – just raise as much as you can.
Why take part in the Hackney Half?
- Starting at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, you will race through the streets of Hackney passing Hackney Downs, the Hackney Empire, the British Red Cross Hackney Refugee Centre, Victoria Park and the London Stadium.
- Along the route you will pass DJs, bands and supporters who will cheer you over the finishing line.
- You'll be helping us support the vital work of our Hackney Destitution Centre, supporting Refugees and Asylum seekers in Hackney.
- You'll be part of an unforgettable and truly rewarding experience.
Why run with the British Red Cross?
All funds from our 2027 Hackney Half places will go to supporting the vital work of our Hackney Refugee Centre, just off Dalston Lane.
The Centre is a welcoming community hub providing practical support to asylum seekers in London who have no right to work and no access to official assistance. Among it's services are English, IT and exercise classes, and the centre is a place where people can rest, socialise, share a hot lunch, and collect supermarket vouchers, clothing, hygiene items and groceries.
Many of the staff and volunteers who run the centre have experience of the Asylum system themselves, and many of our clients, most of whom are experiencing homelessness or are in highly unstable accommodation, travel from across London to eat together twice a week and join our trips to local museums, parks and community organisations.

It gave me such a boost to get the support of well-wishers and supporters when passing the British Red Cross Hackney Destitution Centre during the run. It was great motivation to know that by running the Hackney Half, I was supporting such worthwhile projects like this one!

Where is the Hackney Half Marathon?
The Hackney Half Marathon starts and finishes on Hackney Marshes. The flat route takes runners through the heart of East London, passing iconic local sites including Broadway Market, Hackney Wick and the Hackney Empire.
