About the event

Take on this cool urban half marathon in East London. Starting in the famous Queen Elizabethan park, you will race through the streets of Hackney passing Hackney Downs, the Hackney Empire, the British Red Cross Hackney refugee centre, Victoria Park and the London Stadium.

Along the route you will pass DJs, bands and supporters who will cheer you over the finishing line.

Why run with the British Red Cross?

The funds raised from the Hackney Half will go to support the Red Cross Hackney refugee centre. The centre creates a safe place where refugees can be supported with urgent needs, casework and advice.

As part of Team Red Cross, you will be supported through every part of your event preparation. Our national events team will be on hand to encourage you with your fundraising, answer any questions you have and to thank you for all of your hard work.

You will also receive:

  • access to fundraising tips and advice to help you reach your sponsorship target
  • dedicated support, including training advice
  • a British Red Cross running vest once you've raised £100
  • updates on the work of the British Red Cross Hackney refugee centre.

Already got a place?

If you already have your own place in the Great North Run then you can still be part of Team Red Cross. You’ll receive the same support as all other team members but won’t have a fundraising target to reach – just raise as much as you can.
