Marsh & McLennan Companies
We teamed up with Marsh & McLennan Companies (MMC) in 2016 for a five-year strategic partnership. This builds on the relationship we have developed since becoming partners in 2014.
Sharing our common goals and values, we support people to prepare for disasters, respond when they happen and recover afterwards. Working together through fundraising, volunteering and business collaboration, our vision is ‘Helping to build resilient communities’.
Prepare, respond and recover
Our partnership with MMC supports projects under three pillars: prepare, respond and recover. This reflects our commitment to help build resilient communities in the UK by being there for people at every stage of a crisis.
Under these three pillars we have developed:
- a two-year pilot project giving first aid education to people, including carers, who regularly support adults aged over 65 at risk of trips or falls to prepare them for times of crisis
- a community reserve volunteer network to support and respond when a large-scale incident hits a community
- support at home projects across three regions that help vulnerable people settle back at home and recover after being discharged from a hospital stay.
Fundraising with colleagues
MMC colleagues are actively involved in our partnership and raise money through UK-wide initiatives, local events and personal challenges.
These include the London Marathon, sponsored team treks and custom-made events such as enabling colleagues to donate their last hour of pay for the year to the partnership, a national bake off and orienteering races. We work closely with MMC and their network of 100 charity champions to help engage colleagues in our partnership and support their fundraising efforts.
Colleagues give their time to support our joint vision by getting involved in volunteering opportunities. They could be digitally mapping vulnerable areas of the world through Missing Maps, wrapping Christmas gifts for refugees or taking part in first aid training.
Whatever they do, MMC colleagues are using their time and skills to help people prepare, respond and recover from crisis.
MMC and the British Red Cross recognise the value of bringing together our expertise and resources. Working in partnership, we make a greater impact on each other’s organisations, and the communities within which we both work.
Each MMC operating company (Marsh, Mercer, Guy Carpenter and Oliver Wyman) has provided pro bono support to us.
MMC and the Red Cross are committed to working together to create long-term and sustainable impact. By uniting colleagues across the country to help build resilient communities, our partnership makes a huge difference to people’s lives.
