Common questions about donating to the British Red Cross

Can I choose which country or project gets my donation?

Check out our current appeals. You’ll see the countries and projects we’re currently raising funds for.

Or you can give in support of our general work, helping people wherever the need is greatest, either here in the UK or internationally.

Can I sponsor a child, family or hospital?

Our aim is to help entire communities. We're unable to restrict donations to individuals or organisations.

Are donations I make online by credit card and Direct Debit safe?

Yes, your details are safe. When donating online you'll be connected to a secure server, which is indicated by the padlock symbol in the address bar.

I make a regular gift by Direct Debit. Can I change the amount I give?

Yes, you can do this by emailing regulargivingsupport@redcross.org.uk. Include your name, address and supporter reference number if you have this.

Let us know the new amount you'd like to give and when you want this new arrangement to start. We'll send you a letter to confirm the change.

Can I change my bank details online?

We don't offer this facility online. Please email our supporter care team to change your bank details.

Can I donate through the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF)?

You can't donate using a CAF card online. To make a donation using a CAF card, please call our supporter care team.

Alternatively, you can send a CAF voucher through the post to our registered address: British Red Cross, 44 Moorfields, London, EC2Y 9AL.

I've moved house. What's the best way to let you know?

Email our supporter care team. Include your name and both your old address and the address you've moved to.

We'll update your details right away, but one or two letters may still arrive at your old address.

How can I change the way British Red Cross contacts me?

Call our supporter care team and we'll talk you through the options. Alternatively, you can complete our Keeping in touch form.

Can a donation I made online be refunded?

If you make an error while making your donation, we will be happy to refund it. Please contact our supporter care team with your name, address and transaction reference.

How do I cancel a Direct Debit donation?

You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by simply contacting your bank or building society. Written confirmation may be required. Please also notify us.
